Nell and Cal announce the name of the 2020 show…

December 6th 2019

2020 is the 20-year anniversary of Giffords Circus and to celebrate the fairy folk are coming out to play. Come and join our dance to the timeless Celtic rhythms and drums and get down with the fairy folk. 2020 is approaching and we are going to kick up a Hooley.

“It’s the 20th anniversary of Giffords Circus”, says founder and producer Nell Gifford.

The Hooley is inspired by Celtic rhythms and the ancient magic of Celtic culture, a world full of fairy and woodland folk.”

We are excited to welcome back one of the UK’s leading comedy directors, Cal McCrystal to direct The Hooley, hot off the heels of his 2019 Atomic Saloon Show that wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Festival before moving to Las Vegas.

Also returning in 2020 is Tweedy the clown, a physical comedy genius guaranteed to have audiences in stitches and will be joined in The Hooley by Giffords favourites Nancy Trotter Landry and Lil Rice. Horses, fairies, music and dancing will fill the big top for one of the UK’s much-loved shows.

New for 2020

Giffords Circus is opening earlier in the year on April 9th in time for the Easter holidays. Two new grounds have been added to the 280-date tour – Bowood House & Gardens in Wiltshire and National Trust owned Morden Hall Park in south London.

The Hooley opens in Giffords Circus hometown of Stroud, before touring the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, London, the Chilterns and Wiltshire. Nell Gifford has also co-written a cookbook out in March 2020 GIFFORDS CIRCUS COOKBOOK: Recipes & Stories from a Magical Circus Restaurant by Nell Gifford & Ols Halas (Quadrille, £27).
